Ooooo Yeahh!! I am Back.. Well at least I am back for a while. Even though I do not want to go away but I have to (Please do not ask me why It is complicated). Anyway, I have been meaning to write a post for a long while and didn't get the time or topic to write about. I guess I finally got something to write about now.
Yes, about a sitcom, which is a cult classic (you read that right) 'Arrested Development'.
It is really very rare for a sitcom to get a overall IMDB rating of 9.1/10 and Arrested Development got that achievement but unfortunately it wasn't such a big hit viewership wise. The main reason I think why it wasn't such a big hit because the writers of the show took the word "Sitcom (Situational Comedy)" a bit too serious.
The whole show concentrates along a wealthy family whose life falls apart after the head of the family is arrested for a treason and one of his son takes the responsibility to keep them all together. That is a perfect situation to generate a laugh riot. As far as I am concerned the writers did succeed on that. This is one of the finest comedies I have seen for a while, even better than "Cheers" and definitely a lot better than the most overrated TV Show of the decade "How I Met Your Mother".
Why do I think it is good, if not great. The way it was written and handled. The first three seasons concentrate on Michael Bluth getting the family back on track, which eventually he fails to because of lack of any sort of support from his family members by the end of season 3. Thanks to Netflix they renewed the show for a forth season where still Michael Bluth given up getting his family back on track, this time around writers concentrate on how the individual family members try to get their life together. The whole fourth season takes place at the same time frame, but the writers divided the episodes for each different characters. That one heck of a gutsy approach and very well executed season. Kudos to the writers and the directors.
The main credits should be given to the creator Mitchell Hurwitz. This is one of the most brilliantly written TV Shows I have seen. The way he managed to show in the first three seasons that "The Bluth Family" is mainly centered around "George Sr.", but it is in the season 4 we can see that it was "Lucille Bluth" who is the main pivot for the whole family. Also, not to forget by not closing out the show he kept it open for any future revival of the show by keeping the murder mystery of "Lucille 2" unknown. Well, no one exactly know who murdered (or was she really killed?) Lucille 2, even though the younger of Bluth's "Buster" was arrested in the end. The writers made sure that almost every character involved in the show can be a clear suspect for the murder. hopefully they revive the shoe to clearly show who is the real culprit, or at least reveal it in the movie they are planning to.
Apart from Lucille 2's death, there are other mysteries that are needed to be answered like
1. What's next for Michael Bluth and his son George Michael? Who gets Rebel Kelly? Can either of them compromise?
2. Who is Lindsay Bluth's real parents (could it be Lucille 2)?
3. What has happened to Lindsay's Husband and Boyfriend Tobias and Marky?
4. What's next for Maeby after being fired by George Michael? Did she or will she graduate High School?
5. Against whom does Lindsay stand against in the election after the death of Lucille 2? (Of course, a bad question, the clear answer is Sally Sitwell, but come on why not Herbert Love? Good one right. :P )
6. What's up with GOB and Tony Wonder? Will they be together?
7. Finally will George Sr. be back (well he can if he can get the Testosterone Numbers back) or will twin brother Oscar will take his position?
8. Man I almost forgot about the central character Lucille Bluth. Is she the one who really killed Lucille 2?
So, I hope Mitchell Hurwitz will sure answer most of the questions above with a new season or at least in the movie (Or may have already answered and I missed catching them. Will see Season 4 again and will update if I have really missed something. Well he can definitely take the help of some young talents to write like Michael Cera or me :P :D
PS: I am so glad they are re-vamping season 4 in chronological order.... Thank God...
